Great rehydration drink! Provides flavour, salt and minerals with a hint of sweetness from the lime as well as balancing spices. Easy to prep and can be used all day long! Or kept and used later.
Ingredients
- ⅛ teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 cups spring water
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh mint or basil
- 1 teaspoon raw sugar
- 2 small pinches salt Himalayan or good quality rock salt.
- ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
Preparation
- Dry-toast the cumin seeds in a small pan over medium-low heat for 1 minute – be careful not to burn!
- Remove from the heat and crush them in a mortar or spice grinder.
- In a blender, briefly blend all the ingredients and strain through a fine cloth into a container. Serve at room temperature.
- To store, refrigerate in a jar or closed container for up to 3 days.
It has a cooling action and stimulates all six tastes and is refreshing and rehydrating at the same time.
