Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of medicine
It means the Science [ Veda] of Life [Ayu ] or more broadly, the study and practice of what makes us healthy in mind , body and spirit. It focuses on prevention of disease and how to live a long AND healthy life.

This is a testimonial about my experience with Oscar O’Duchon and his practice using Ayurveda.
I am now 52 years old, 51 when I started this treatment philosophy. I have a complicated medical history and I had been feeling generally below par. I was intrigued by what might be possible with this regime and at a point where I wanted to try something that would offer realistic results. Talking through my history and lifestyle with Oscar has been a pleasure; just like talking to a friend and getting for some well-considered and appropriate advice. Oscar has delivered!
It has been extremely interesting to find out about the different Ayurveda types and how each one alters the approach needed.
I fit into the Kapha type and realised that a lot of the factors that have held me back, such as craving sweet or salty foods in my diet. This has led me to look more deeply into how my diet is composed. I do now prefer the astringent food groups and avoid salty foods where possible as Ayurveda would recommend.
It has been a very pleasant experience to look at my diet, lifestyle, exercise, digestion and mental health as a whole package rather than looking at how one organ works in isolation to the whole body’s wellbeing.
Reading how important it is to look at your digestion is another enlightening aspect of this Ayurveda experience. I find that I now use more herbs and spices that complement the diet and improve my digestion and nutrition. I found that following the Ayurveda guidelines is not leaving me with a dull and boring diet, making it easier to follow Oscar’s treatment recommendations.
I still have a way to go but I feel that Oscar has giving me the tools, support and advice to get there and to feel more like the me I want to be to move forward and upwards with my life.
Thank you Oscar and Ayurveda for changing my life.
Oscar has been fantastic and has improved my wellbeing, he takes the time to understand me so that I can know myself better. What I thought I had to do wasn’t what I needed (eg going for walks with my dog & doing yoga is better for me than the gym!), and he’s helped massively with my eating habits & nutrition, which I haven’t been able to find elsewhere.
It’s healing and preventative and a joy to speak to someone so knowledgeable, helping us to like ourselves enough to make the loving changes.
Oscar was my NHS General Practitioner from 2004-2020 and of the many GP’s, consultants and specialists I have seen over my 49 years, was my favorite and most trusted Doctor.
I always found him so completely down to earth, genuinely caring, understanding and compassionate. He always showed a real interest in my complex medical issues and was quick to order and follow up all necessary tests – even checking up on me when I was admitted to hospital.
Oscar was the only Doctor I would see and that I trusted, and I was devastated when he left general practice.
Oscar was my GP for about 15 years, and he was an amazing Doctor and a really lovely man. He always looked after me so well and was very easy to talk to about anything, even ‘women’s issues.’ He was especially kind to my daughter who has had untold bad luck with her health for which I cannot thank him enough. We have never been able to find a GP to match up to him since he left general practice.
We miss him a great deal.
